Summer Reading Family Movie Nights!

Simon Brooks, Storyteller, Summer Reading Kick-off program! All ages!

Get ready to giggle, as we kick-off the 2016 summer reading program with a special performance by award winning storyteller, Simon Brooks! Simon combines his passion for children’s literature and folklore to create fun and engaging programs for all ages!
Funding for the Kids, Books and the Arts event is provided by the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation, CHILIS, Cogswell Benevolent Trust, and is supported in part by a grant from the NH State Council on the Arts & the National Endowment for the Arts as well as funds administered by the NH State Library and provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Summer Storytime! Week 1:" Games & Trains!"
Tuesday, June 28th 10:30 am All ages!
Join us for our fun summer reading storytimes.
Week 1: Games & Trains!
We read stories, do fingerplays, feltboard and make a fun craft! We'll also take a pretend "Train ride" this week.
Summer Reading 9-12 year old Activity Hour! This week: Board and Group Games!
|Tues. June 27th 6:30-7:30 pm
Come and play some fun board games and group games upstairs in the Oyster River Room. Win some prizes! We'll also talk about what you are reading. For ages 9-12 years old.
Team Art! This week: "Chalk Feathers"
|Drop-in onWeds. July 6th 4:00-5:00 pm All ages!
Stop by the program room anytime between 4 and 5 p.m. and experiment with mixed media to create incredible art. Each week we will tackle a different collaborative sculpture as a team! The pieces team members design will be assembled into a large-scale work of art that will remain on display at the library for a period of time.
The more the merrier, and all ages are welcome!
This week: Create fancy chalk feathers and help us build two giant peacocks!
Music on the Lawn! This week: "Truffle!"
|Weds. June 29th 6:30-7:30 pm
Join us for five Wednesday evenings for Music on the Lawn!
This week: "Acoustic Truffle!" Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic! Truffle is a very talented local group who will have you moving all night. This event is held rain or shine (upstairs in the Oyster River Room in case of rain). All ages! Don't miss it!
Touch a Truck! Durham Firemen & Firetruck visit!
|Thurs June 30th at 10:30 am
Come and meet the Durham Firemen and tour the Fire truck!
We will hear a story, meet the Firemen and even go in the Fire truck.
There will be a fun craft to make at the end as well. Don't miss it!

This week: Fun & Games! We read stories, do puzzles, play some games and make a fun craft.
Come and learn some new games! We'll also talk about what you are reading!
Nature Art Nights! This week: '"Rain Garden Walk & Pinecone Owls!"
|Thurs. June 30th 6:30-7:30 pm
Make the great outdoors your canvas this summer at Nature Nights, where we will create artwork using materials found in nature, while enjoying the warm weather with outdoor fun ! Each week will be a new exploration of nature through crafts, stories, and outdoor activities.
All ages are welcome!

Boston Bruins Mascot, Blade & Ice Girls Visit!

All ages! Held in the Oyster River Room
The Durham Public Library was chosen for an awesome visit from the Boston Bruins Mascot, Blades the Bear and the Ice Girls!
Join us as we listen to the story of how Blades became a member of the Boston Bruins hockey team. After the story, we will make a hockey mask craft to take home, play trivia games, win prizes, and participants will have a chance to get their photo taken with
Blades and the Ice Girls!
Cosmic Kids "Frozen" Yoga! All ages!
|Thurs. July 7th at 10:30 am
Held in the Oyster River Room
Channel your inner Elsa as we watch Jaime, the star of Cosmic Kids Yoga, on our big screen. This Cosmic Kids Yoga episode is inspired by the Disney movie Frozen! We will practice our yoga moves and exercise our bodies.
All ages are welcome. Bring a yoga mat and have your child wear comfortable clothing.
Wildlife Encounters at the Madbury Town Hall with the Durham, Lee and Madbury Libraries!
|Thursday July 14th at 10:30 am
Wildlife Encounters® brings the excitement of natural & instinctive learning to the Oyster River Community through this joint library program sponsored by the Durham, Lee and Madbury libraries.
Come meet the “Faces of Nature” and learn about science and conservation. This is a live animal presentation.
Event is held at the Madbury Town Hall. All ages and all are welcome!
Summer Reading Finale Celebration with Bryson Lang, Juggler & Comedian!
|Friday, July 29th at 10:30 am All ages!
Held upstairs in the Oyster River Room
· Enjoy a hilarious act combining skillful juggling with original comedy!
· Receive your Summer Reading program completion certificate
· Select your book prize for all Summer Reading participants
· Win door and raffle prizes from our wonderful sponsors
· Snack on some yummy cake and juice, too!
