Interlibrary Loan

We can order books and other materials that we don't own from other libraries in New Hampshire! If the owning library is willing to lend, we will have it delivered here at no cost to you. First, check the Durham Public Library Catalog to confirm that we don't own the item. Then, to place your order, simply fill out an interlibrary loan form at the circulation desk with the title, author, your name, and phone number and we will make the request for you. Or call the library at 868-6699 and we will take your order over the phone.

You can look up books in the statewide library catalog NHU-PAC to see if they are available, but remember, not all items in New Hampshire libraries are in the state catalog, so don't hesitate to fill out an ILL form anyway and we will try to locate the title. In extraordinary cases, we can order items from out of state in which case the patron will be responsible for any postal charges.

If you have any questions, call us at 868-6699.

Book Groups

Book groups may request multiple copies of a title and we will order them through interlibrary loan from other libraries. Simply fill out a request card at the front desk and provide us with the book title, the author, the name of the book group, how many copies you need, when you need them, and the date of the book discussion. Please allow at least five weeks lead time before your scheduled book discussion to insure that the books arrive in time. You may also request books over the phone.
